To Santorum: Dems Would Love to Help You Win Michigan, Just Not For the Reason You Think

Santorum lies

Santorum is the gift that keeps on giving … for Democrats, that is. Santorum‘s outreach via robocalls to Michigan Democrats to vote for him in the Michigan open primaries is being called a dirty trick by Romney. It is being called a gift by Democrats.

One of the key questions being hashed out in the GOP primary is: Which candidate is more electable in a general election? Electability will hinge heavily on who can win blue collar whites in struggling Rust Belt swing states, some of whom are Democrats. Santorum’s case for the robocalls — and for the outreach to Reagan Dems, as in his speech today — is that Republicans need to win support from these voters in order to win in November. Source

There are very few things Rick Santorum and Democrats have in common, but both want liberals and independents to vote for the GOP hopeful in the Michigan primary tonight.

Both just want it for very different reasons.

Rick Santorum‘s campaign said it sent out a “robocall” encouraging Michigan Democrats to vote for him because attracting the other party is needed to win the state’s Republican primary. Democrats are asking fellow party members to listen to his plea because they want to “keep the GOP clown show going”–and believe Santorum is a lot less likely to beat President Barack Obama than Mitt Romney.

“It’s an opportunity for Democrats to actually help prolong this election a little bit longer because we’ve seen that the longer this drags out, the worse it is for Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum and the best it is for Barack Obama,” Daily Kos blogger Markos Moulitsas said on Current TV’s “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”  Source.

The Michigan results are in and unfortunately, Santorum‘s plea to Democrats wasn’t enough to win the state. I briefly listened to his speech when they were close to calling Michigan as a Romney win, and it sounded like a victory speech. It also sounded like a pack of lies. This man is delusional if he thinks that Democrats would embrace him in a general election.

From his war on education to his war on women, gays, and the nation’s poor, he is nothing short of a hypocritical liar. Take his attack on the President for his support of education … he calls the President a “snob” because Obama would like all Americans to have an equal opportunity for higher education. How dare he want America’s children to have the same tools to succeed that he and Santorum had. I mean, Santorum does have more college degrees than President Obama, doesn’t he … and I’ll bet that a college education in somewhere on the horizon for this hypocrite’s children.

Granted, some of us are gullible enough to give each other high-fives because Rick Santorum called Obama a snob for promoting a college education.

But the rest of us look at “Slick Rick’s” college degree, law degree and MBA, the fact that he’s sending his kids to college and owns at least six properties, and has earned millions, and wonder — What is he talking about? Virtually every socioeconomic study looking at the intersection of income and education shows a direct correlation between the two. For Santorum to vilify higher education for political gain — while obviously benefiting from attending universities — is embarrassing. Then saying that John F. Kennedy’s famous 1960 speech standing up for the separation of church and state made him want to throw up?

Well, that makes me nauseous. Source

In his speech, I particularly loved the lie … “we have a government that is crushing us every single day with more taxes, more regulations, and the idea that they know better than you how to run your life.”

If Santorum were President, he would attempt to dictate our sex lives, our reproductive decisions, and who we marry. He’d take his marching orders from the Pope and integrate religion with government, whether the American public wants his religion shoves down our throats or not … and we do not, I assure you.

I could go over it point by point and highlight all the lies and hypocrisy spoken by this clown, but you can read the speech here.  Michigan results point out pretty clearly that Santorum will not make it as the Republican candidate in the long haul, and honestly, Democrats would have loved to see that happen.  This clown is so unelectable, that the President could just concentrate on the business of running the country instead of campaigning.  Guess Santorum will have to roll up his blue collar sleeves and get a job.
