Boners are Good … Birth Control is Bad

Viagra, Birth Control, Republican War on Women

Does anyone else find it interesting that health insurance providers have been covering the drug that flaccid, impotent Republicans use so they can “get it up”, but are pushing for no insurance coverage for birth control.

Within weeks of hitting the U.S. market in 1998, more than half of Viagra prescriptions received health insurance coverage. If many women weren’t already outraged that they had to pay for birth control out of pocket, they were infuriated at the preference given to the anti-impotence pills. Source

98% of American women use some form of birth control during their reproductive years. Yet not all insurance companies cover prescription birth control. What’s worse, some of the insurance carriers that DON’T cover birth control DO cover drugs like viagra. Doesn’t sound fair, does it?

There are many people who consider birth control to be an important part of women’s health care. This is why the Obama administration included several types of women’s health care, including all FDA approved forms of birth control, into the category of preventative care.

The Affordable Care Act, and the requirements and laws within it, are designed to improve the ability of Americans to find affordable health insurance coverage. However, it will not matter if people can afford to buy health insurance if the only plans offered to them are ones that do not actually cover much of anything. Therefore, health insurance companies are required to cover everything that is included as preventative care. They must do it without charging a co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has fought a battle to prevent Catholic hospitals, and other religious businesses, from having to cover the cost of birth control in their employer sponsored health plans. Recently, the Obama administration made a compromise that allowed religious businesses to not have to “pay for” birth control coverage. Instead, their insurance company will have to cover that cost. Nutbag Santorum believes that birth control gives women a “license” to do naughty things … like having sex without having a child. Most thinking Americans believe that is a good thing. I might be wrong, but I think that most heterosexual sexual encounters begin with a boner (or a desire to get a boner), and probably the majority of these men with boners do not have procreation in mind when contemplating what to do with their boners. I just wonder what all those Republicans would do with their boners if women decided to take birth control into their own hands through abstinence. If you have a relationship with someone who wants to take away women’s rights to affordable reproductive health care, tell them they can take their boners and shove them … somewhere else!

Stop. Take Just a Moment and Sign the Petition Below

Tell Congress, the Senate and the White House to Stop the War Against Women’s Rights and birth control.

That’s why I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama, which says:

“Despite overwhelming public support for birth control, anti-birth control lawmakers aren’t backing down. They are determined to give employers the power to deny women coverage for contraception — and they don’t want to hear from women or from anyone who disagrees with them.

Birth control. It’s used by 98 percent of American women. It’s healthy, safe, and effective. It reduces the number of abortions”
